Primark Effect

The 'Primark effect' (Tibbetts, 2008) means that that clothes they sell are really cheap to but. Fashion is getting really cheap and lead to mores being thrown away. The materals being use to make cheap clothes are hard to recycled, cheap clothes being wear few times and them throw away. “As a result the proportion of textile waste at council tips has risen from 7 per cent to 30 per cent in five years.” (Tibbetts, 2008) the clothes get put in landfills and as MP Micheal Jack said “It is presenting real challenges, because these material are not easily recyclable. In other words it was a case of landfill or burning them.” (Jack, cited in Tibbetts, 2008)

MPs visited a waste-disposal site in Croydon (Tibbetts, 2008)

People who buy clothes don’t see to think about will the clothes they by cheap will last. Fashion has got really fast now that unwanted clothes are getting bin. “Primark recently announced a 17 per cent increase in profits to £233million for the year ending in September.” (Tibbetts, 2008)

Knowing clothes being thrown help me know that I can go to landfill sites and find clothes and reuse them but knowing that cheap material is hard to reuse meaning the clothes will fall apart if I try to make new clothe with. All I can do is find the clothe wash them and see if they can be reuse.
